What Will the Defensive Line Look like in 2015?
There have been a lot of theories as to what the defensive line will look like for the 2015 San Francisco 49ers. The bad news is, many in the media are pessimistic due to the losses on a very steady unit from the past four seasons.
Justin Smith retired after his left shoulder, which gets the brunt of the contact playing on the right side of the line, “didn’t respond” the way he wanted it.
Ray McDonald was released and is now likely out of the league.
The good news is, there is a very deep group of promising young players poised to step in and make their mark.
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee has suggested that Glenn Dorsey will take over for Justin Smith on the right side on base downs and will be replaced by Tank Carradine on nickel downs. He also believes Quinton Dial will start on the left side and standout nose tackle Ian Williams will resume his starting role in the middle.
This is a very plausible theory as Dorsey is very versatile and can play both end and tackle. Dial has good size and seems to be a good fit on the left side on base downs, especially against the run.
So where do the rest of the guys fit in and do any of them have a legitimate shot to start?
2nd Annual 408 Chapter BBQ Event
San Jose, CA – The much anticipated 2nd Annual 408 Niner Empire Chapter BBQ was held this past weekend at Lake Cunningham Regional Park. The event was organized by Chapter President Lisa Gutierez who along with her sister Elena showed up at 5am at the park to start setting up. After working year around for different causes in their community, it was time to kick off a new season of celebrating life with the Empire family.
After word got out after last year’s much talked about event, folks who missed it made sure to mark their calendars as soon as this event was announced.
San Francisco Bay Area recording artist Jose Santana’s management connected with the 408 Event coordinators and announced he would be shooting his next 49er Anthem “Niner Party” music video at the event as well.
As fans arrived and began setting up their canopies the grill was lit and volunteer grill masters Marlon Allen and Abel Rueda of F.F.F. (Forty-Niner Faithful Forum) went to work.
Spartans infiltrate Falcons Tailgate Competition
ATLANTA, GA. – This past weekend, the Spartan Niner Empire entered a tailgate competition in the city where they were born…..ATLANTA!
The event consisted of several categories, best meal, best burger, and best Tailgate overall. The Spartan CEO David Kahn, and the Spartan President Pedro Torales got things going as early as 4am! These two have been working very hard, and they do it with one purpose, to ensure the 49er fan experience is present, representing the team away from the Bay!
The Spartan group competed against 18 other hardcore tailgaters, representing the Atlanta Falcons, one UGA Bulldogs Tailgate, and one High school tailgate.
The Spartans arrived in stealth mode, not showing any magnets at the entrance, but the moment the tents went up, the 49er flags were high up in the air along with the massive Spartan Flag the enemy knew that this group came for one thing one in mind…winning first place!
Fresno Chapter joins forces with Raiders group to create Anti-Violence Event
FRESNO, CA. – The Niner Empire Fresno chapter yet again proves how a well organized group can be a real strength in their community. This past weekend Luis Lozano and his group joined forces with the local Raiders fan group, Raiders of the Central Valley group which is run by Art Perez to hold their first annual “Big Fresno Stop The Violence Rally” event. They promoted the anti-violence event saying, “If we can get along, you can get along”.
