San Francisco, CA. – Over the years every Christmas day our 49er brother Mike and our 49er sister Chale have separately gone out alone on their own to feed and pass out warm items to the homeless around San Francisco. They met each other this year while hanging out at Empire family picnics, tailgates, etc and on game day before Christmas 2015 they got together with us and set up a clothing drive at the Empire Row Tailgate. The Empire family showed up in full force and donated warm items for a good cause.
On Christmas morning we met up together in our cars bringing additional bags of items plus got pastries, coffee, water bottles, turkey/PB&J sandwiches. We all followed Mike to different locations to feed the less fortunate and pass out warm items.
It was a truly humbling experience not just to see first hand but to interact to those who are living on the streets every day. It was one thing for them all to be strangers but then a big guy came walking across the street towards me saying “you didn’t recognize me huh?”. Jumping to conclusions I dismissed the comment thinking maybe he had psychological issues. After he told me who his family was and who he was, it really hit me on how wrong I was. The last time I had seen him was when he was a little kid playing around me and my friends almost thirty years ago. The experience was beyond sobering.
To Mike and Chale who made this all possible, we promise you will never do another Christmas alone. You will always have the full support of our Empire family. To all of you that donated, this makes us proud and honored to call you family!!!
THIS WAS ONLY POSSIBLE THRU THE ACT OF KINDNESS FROM EVERYONE WHO DONATED OR CONTRIBUTED.
EVERY SINGLE PERSON, LEFT WITH A SMILE, And A Full Belly!!!
THANK YOU to everyone who donated.
