49ers Take Care Of N.Y Giants with Second String Players

Best part of this two-game road trip in New York. Leaving the field that was
still horrible, getting on that bus and finally going home to San Francisco for three
games. It is safe to say the 49ers were not in a New York state of mind.

This was a game that was about backup and Kyle Shanahan was going to win
this game with his quarterback backup playing in Nick Mullens,Kyle options at
running back were Jerrik McKinnon, Jeff Wilson and a practice squad running
back Jamycal Hasty . What would you do in this situation? Kyle decided to have
a vanilla offense vs a very bad NY Giants team .His game plan was to take much
time off the clock and score a couple times and get out of New York and that is
exactly what they did .

First drive was 10 plays for 41 yards and took 5:17 off the clock with a Robbie
Gould 52-yard field goal. Second drive was 12 plays for 38 yards and took 5:25
off the clock with another 32-yard field goal. Robbie Gould tried a 55-yard
field goal that he missed and gave the Giants great field position and they would go
down the field to tie the score with Gano own 52-yard field goal.

The 49ers finally broke through with a 12 play 75 yard drive that took 6:18
minutes off the clock and ended with a 10 yard McKinnon run to put the 49ers up 13-6
with 1:06 left in second quarter , Unfortunately for the Giants, Super Star
Fred Warner jumped a route and picked off the pass by Daniel Jones . This led to
another 3 points before the half to make the score 16-6 49ers at halftime.

Number one pick got involved with his first touchdown with a beautiful design
end around that he was never touched on for a 19-yard walk in touchdown. The
game was over at this point, but the 49ers added a 19-yard Touchdown
pass to Wilson Jr and then Wilson for another 2-yard rushing Touchdown.

The 49ers won this game with being in full control the entire game versus just an
awful Giants team 36-9.

My take on Nick Mullens: Played very well for his first start of the year with
Jimmy Garoppolo nursing a high ankle sprain, Let’s not get this twisted however, he
was forcing the ball into tight windows that in any better secondary would have
made plays on. Before the Jordan Reed injury, he was looking for him and forcing
passes his way. He had a solid game with some great throws and he has better
arm strength then we saw him last time he started which was a plus. This is a game 
that the 49ers need to grow on and we will need to try to get a lot better before the Rams
game in three weeks from now .

49ers Revenge Tour changed to The Rehab Tour in 2020

The 49ers received the kickoff and on the first play. The simple toss play that Raheem Mostert took went 80 yards. The 49ers where up 7-0 and it was going to be a long day for the New York Jets. The next drive the 49ers had Raheem takes another pitch and goes 65 yards for another touchdown. Then the yellow flag was called on one of the biggest bone head plays by right tackle Mike McGlinchey. The naked eye it was a hold that if he would not have held him Mostert would of ran past the player.

The third downplay is where the rehab tour began. Jimmy Garoppolo drops back, and Quinton Williams hit the back of Jimmy ankle and then another player landed on top of him. Both could have been called for penalty’s as you cannot dive at the back of a QB leg and when a QB knee are down you can’t tackle him again. This resulted in a high ankle sprain and even though this happened on second series of game. Jimmy gutted out the first half and was having a great game at the time. He led them to two touchdown drives that ended up to two touchdown passes to Jordan Reed before third quarter came and the ankle tighten up and Nick Mullens had to come in and finish game.

The preseason with all the no OTA and not having all the snaps these players normally get is starting to show its ugly head. The other issue is the stadium just put in new turf and even in warmups. The players where complaining that the field was sticky and was an issue.

The worse news came when Nick Bosa, the best player on the field every game was pass rushing and his knee got bent back and had to be carted off. Two plays later we see Solomon Thomas was laying on the field and he also had to be carted back to the locker room. Unfortenly both players believed to have torn ACL injury .Monday they will have an MRI to confirm these injury , however if the 49ers DR are correct they both will have surgery this week and it is a six to nine month recovery time .Bosa has had this done back in high school.

Then we also found out that Raheem Mostert also had an inflammation in his knee, so he was to also be taken out of the game. When you lose three of your four big part of the team like the 49ers did today. This is something you do not replace but try to put a bandage around and hope your guys can come together as a team. This doesn’t even mention you have George Kittle, Richard Sherman , Dee Ford , Deebo Samuel all injured at the same time .

We can sit here and say these players are getting hurt because the corona virus, normal preseason, peace of crap field that both teams lost players on today. Just maybe we must ask that it is not just our team but with all the injuries around the league. Should the NFL players and the league even have a season with all these injuries?

The 49ers win this game 31-13 but does anyone even care? I do not!

Jimmy Garoppolo and the Lack of a true NFL WR , Helps the Cardinals Rally past 49ers in Opener

SANTA CLARA, Calif- San Francisco 49ers started out really good in the first quarter , Opening drive went down to Arizona 34 and Robbie Gould kicked a 52 yard field goal to go up 3-0 .

Second drive the 49ers get the ball ,and it was a quick 1 play drive .After LB Isaiah Simmons , Cardinals number one pick,took a terrible angle on Raheem Mostert on the wheel route. After Garoppolo got the pass to Mostert it was a 76 yard TD to put the 49ers up 10-0 . The next drive the 49ers went three and out and could have really put this game away. Special teams came out and Ezekiel Turner blocked the punt and turned this entire game around for the Cardinals .

The entire game from this point on,49ers lost momentum of this game .Kyler Murray threw a TD to Chase Edmons to put the game to a 10-7 game .

Second quarter both teams made field goals to end the quarter . Robbie Gould with a 24 yard FG and Zane Gonzalez with his longest FG of his career of 56 yards .49ers went in at half time with a 13-10 lead .

There was no scoring in the third quarter . The fourth quarter Arizona scored on Murray’s 22 yard run for a touchdown to put the Cardinals up 17-13 . Jimmy Garoppolo responded with a drive that ended with a 5 yard pass to another blown coverage by Isaiah Simmons ,that Jerick McKinnon caught for a walk in touchdown . The 49ers took a 20-17 lead with 8 minutes left in the game.

This game was not about the new toys that Jimmy was supposed to have with Deebo Samuel , Brandon Aiyuk, and Ben Garland all were not available for this game. He was able to work with Jerick McKinnon ,and Jordan Reed .

This game was taken over by DeAndre Hopkins who ended up with a career high in receptions at 14  with 16 targets. He showed the 49ers what a real WR can do when you add them to your team. Hopkins also ended up with 151 yards and almost got in for the winning TD, but was down at the one yard line. Kenyan Drake finished it with a one yard TD run to put the Cardinals up 24-20.

The 49ers had 5 minutes left on the clock, to go down the field and score the winning TD. Last year it was something expected with this team . Jimmy Garoppolo has had national media rumors if he is the long term answer with this organization. Coming from a huge fan of his, I’m starting to have my doubts. The great thing for the Faithful,It’s not up to me. Jimmy did march the 49ers down to the 30 yard line,had a wide open Kendrick Bourne, and just lofted it up in the end zone.Patrick Peterson was able to knock it away from Bourne at the last second. On fourth down he had an open WR Trent Taylor at the first down sticks,was very late throwing the ball, and it was behind him on the biggest throw of the game . Game was over .

We could all tell that the game plan was to run the ball in this game , however with only 4 healthy WR, Jimmy only threw the ball 4 times to our WR, and that is unacceptable for a team like the San Francisco 49ers . They have a lot to work on and it starts with our captain on offense .

Side Notes from this Game : George Kittle hurt his knee in the second quarter and didn’t look the same after that . They will know more about his injury tomorrow . (Lower Leg Injury) Richie James also had an injury with a Hamstring and his update will also be updated tomorrow per Matt Maiocco from NBC Sports .

Niners Radio 2.0 7 Round Mock Draft

The San Francisco Forty Niners had a little different roster when we did our last mock draft 1.0 . This time we no longer have Deforest Buckner which was a shock to all the faithful . The organization decided to pay Arik Armstead on a friendly team deal , while Deforest Buckner got a huge deal with the Indianapolis Colts.  The return was for the 13th pick in this year’s draft . 

The San Francisco 49ers will have some offers with this pick, However if they stay with this pick,13th Pick – The 49ers select Henry Ruggs , the WR from Alabama that had Jerry Jeudy on the other side of him at Alabama . Kyle Shanahan wants his own Tyreek Hill and he gets his guy that can run by anyone he wants. Ruggs ran an official time of 4.27 in the 40 yard dash which is blazing speed. Kyle decided to go with CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy off the board . 

We have the trade that everyone expected to come , without knowing the status of Joe Staley if he will retire or stay one more year .This is a trade that the 49ers needed to make and it’s a good trade for the future to get better at certain positions . 

49ers Trade : 31st pick, 156th pick,  and RB Matt Breida Lions Trade : 35th pick, 85th pick Note: This trade gives the 49ers a  pick in the third round and takes off $3,259,000 in salary cap due to the second round tender . 

35th Pick- The 49ers select Cesar Ruiz.The best inside guard from Michigan and also plays center in this draft and can take over the right guard position if Joe Staley retires . Daniel Brunskill and Justin Skule would compete for the left tackle job . If Joe does end up staying, The future would be very bright with Cesar in the wings to take over for one of those guard positions .

85th Pick- The 49ers select Davon Hamilton. DT is from Ohio State and one of the top tackles in this draft , He is a perfect fit into the Robert Saleh rotation to help the blow of losing Deefo in this line, as it will be Solomon Thomas , Kentavius Street , Julian Taylor and Hamilton will be a great rotation . 

176th Pick- The 49ers select Amik Robertson.CB is from Louisiana Tech and he is someone that plays bigger than he looks . He will want to go against the big time receivers as he isn’t afraid of the big moments . One of the sure tacklers in this draft and with 14 INT in his college career , He will be a scrapper to get on the field . 

210th Pick – The 49ers select Jared Hilbers . OT is from Washington and he is a little raw at this point with his feet work, however his Run Blocking graded at 86.0, Pass blocking graded at 80.7.The one that stood out to me was 83.4 on his zone overall .With Brunskill and Skule possibly taking over at LT this would be a great move for the future . 

217th Pick- The 49ers select Stephen Sullivan . TE is from LSU and he is the TE they have been looking for to come in and give George Kittle a break from time to time . He is above average run blocker and someone who can run good medium routes . 

245th Pick – The 49ers select Oluwole Betiku .DE is from Illinois and he wasn’t invited to the combine but he is a guy that had 9 sacks on the year with 13 tackles for losses . He originally was at USC and transferred to Illinois . 

How realistic is Joey Bosa Joining the 49ers in 2020?

The San Francisco 49ers finally knocked it out of the park when they drafted Nick Bosa last off season. He lived up to all the hype as advertised and then won defensive rookie of the year honors. Just to stamp that with an approval on it, He then did all he could in Super Bowl LIV with 12 pressures that was a record in a Super Bowl .Little bear must have talked to big bear as on multiple sources Joey Bosa wants to come play with little bear in San Francisco when he becomes a free agent in ’21 . https://thegamehaus.com/nfl/joey-bosa-reportedly-wants-to-join-the-49ers-in-2021/2020/01/14/.

Joey Bosa was talking about next year, however this brings us with the situation with Arik Armstead a free agent this year.As I talked to multiple people close to the situation Mr. Armstead is looking for a 5 year deal at 15 million a year and as we look at Armstead career year he had 10 sacks on the year and all came from playing inside and not on outside .

The San Francisco 49ers after the salary cap goes up this year will be around 25 million before any other releases have been completed. The 3 players expected will be  Marquis Goodwin, Jerick McKinnon, Mark Nzeocha to add close to 12 million more in cap .George Kittle and Deforest Buckner deals will be most important to get done, but there is one other option 49ers will have that is in question and that is Dee Ford that the 49ers gave up a second round pick last year with KC.

Dee Ford , If the 49ers cut him before April first they would owe him 6.4 million of dead money and it would save 9 million to the cap space .Looking at Joey Bosa fifth year in 2020 he is owed 14.3 million this year . The 49ers would take the 9 million from the Ford release and the 3 players we cut you would have the most dominating DE in the NFL. The bottom line is with these cuts and basically trading out Ford for Joey Bosa you would be sitting at 32 million under the cap to sign Kittle, Buckner, and others.

The 2021 offseason, the 49ers are sitting a lot more comfortable with 63 million under the cap and people like Jimmy Garoppolo that said he is willing to redo his contract if needed to have players stay and finish what they started.
