Niners Radio 2.0 7 Round Mock Draft

The San Francisco Forty Niners had a little different roster when we did our last mock draft 1.0 . This time we no longer have Deforest Buckner which was a shock to all the faithful . The organization decided to pay Arik Armstead on a friendly team deal , while Deforest Buckner got a huge deal with the Indianapolis Colts.  The return was for the 13th pick in this year’s draft . 

The San Francisco 49ers will have some offers with this pick, However if they stay with this pick,13th Pick – The 49ers select Henry Ruggs , the WR from Alabama that had Jerry Jeudy on the other side of him at Alabama . Kyle Shanahan wants his own Tyreek Hill and he gets his guy that can run by anyone he wants. Ruggs ran an official time of 4.27 in the 40 yard dash which is blazing speed. Kyle decided to go with CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy off the board . 

We have the trade that everyone expected to come , without knowing the status of Joe Staley if he will retire or stay one more year .This is a trade that the 49ers needed to make and it’s a good trade for the future to get better at certain positions . 

49ers Trade : 31st pick, 156th pick,  and RB Matt Breida Lions Trade : 35th pick, 85th pick Note: This trade gives the 49ers a  pick in the third round and takes off $3,259,000 in salary cap due to the second round tender . 

35th Pick- The 49ers select Cesar Ruiz.The best inside guard from Michigan and also plays center in this draft and can take over the right guard position if Joe Staley retires . Daniel Brunskill and Justin Skule would compete for the left tackle job . If Joe does end up staying, The future would be very bright with Cesar in the wings to take over for one of those guard positions .

85th Pick- The 49ers select Davon Hamilton. DT is from Ohio State and one of the top tackles in this draft , He is a perfect fit into the Robert Saleh rotation to help the blow of losing Deefo in this line, as it will be Solomon Thomas , Kentavius Street , Julian Taylor and Hamilton will be a great rotation . 

176th Pick- The 49ers select Amik Robertson.CB is from Louisiana Tech and he is someone that plays bigger than he looks . He will want to go against the big time receivers as he isn’t afraid of the big moments . One of the sure tacklers in this draft and with 14 INT in his college career , He will be a scrapper to get on the field . 

210th Pick – The 49ers select Jared Hilbers . OT is from Washington and he is a little raw at this point with his feet work, however his Run Blocking graded at 86.0, Pass blocking graded at 80.7.The one that stood out to me was 83.4 on his zone overall .With Brunskill and Skule possibly taking over at LT this would be a great move for the future . 

217th Pick- The 49ers select Stephen Sullivan . TE is from LSU and he is the TE they have been looking for to come in and give George Kittle a break from time to time . He is above average run blocker and someone who can run good medium routes . 

245th Pick – The 49ers select Oluwole Betiku .DE is from Illinois and he wasn’t invited to the combine but he is a guy that had 9 sacks on the year with 13 tackles for losses . He originally was at USC and transferred to Illinois . 

How realistic is Joey Bosa Joining the 49ers in 2020?

The San Francisco 49ers finally knocked it out of the park when they drafted Nick Bosa last off season. He lived up to all the hype as advertised and then won defensive rookie of the year honors. Just to stamp that with an approval on it, He then did all he could in Super Bowl LIV with 12 pressures that was a record in a Super Bowl .Little bear must have talked to big bear as on multiple sources Joey Bosa wants to come play with little bear in San Francisco when he becomes a free agent in ’21 . https://thegamehaus.com/nfl/joey-bosa-reportedly-wants-to-join-the-49ers-in-2021/2020/01/14/.

Joey Bosa was talking about next year, however this brings us with the situation with Arik Armstead a free agent this year.As I talked to multiple people close to the situation Mr. Armstead is looking for a 5 year deal at 15 million a year and as we look at Armstead career year he had 10 sacks on the year and all came from playing inside and not on outside .

The San Francisco 49ers after the salary cap goes up this year will be around 25 million before any other releases have been completed. The 3 players expected will be  Marquis Goodwin, Jerick McKinnon, Mark Nzeocha to add close to 12 million more in cap .George Kittle and Deforest Buckner deals will be most important to get done, but there is one other option 49ers will have that is in question and that is Dee Ford that the 49ers gave up a second round pick last year with KC.

Dee Ford , If the 49ers cut him before April first they would owe him 6.4 million of dead money and it would save 9 million to the cap space .Looking at Joey Bosa fifth year in 2020 he is owed 14.3 million this year . The 49ers would take the 9 million from the Ford release and the 3 players we cut you would have the most dominating DE in the NFL. The bottom line is with these cuts and basically trading out Ford for Joey Bosa you would be sitting at 32 million under the cap to sign Kittle, Buckner, and others.

The 2021 offseason, the 49ers are sitting a lot more comfortable with 63 million under the cap and people like Jimmy Garoppolo that said he is willing to redo his contract if needed to have players stay and finish what they started.
