415 Picnic at Candlestick Point

It was another one of those beautiful days at Candlestick point and the perfect setting for one last event there. Fans who had heard about and missed the previous 408 Chapter and the 510 Chapter picnics set out early for this one.

Amongst the cars and trucks driving into the lot with their flags flying proudly was a Mini Cooper driven by John Callison

and a Dodge Charger driven by George Urban

Both cars quickly caught everyone’s eye and were next to them posing for pictures.

It being the 49ers opening weekend at Levi Stadium, fans who were in town for the game also got the opportunity to join in like Andre Burgos the VP of the NYC Chapter. Driving up from the Fresno Chapter was RJ, their President Luis Lozano and their VP Robert Vinton.

From North Carolina came Chris Miller, President of the NC Triad Chapter here with Marlon Allen who handled one of the grills with Abel Rueda.

With so much food and drinks to share, volunteers had to jump onto a second grill to handle the big slabs of meat and oysters.

There were many new faces along with the familiar ones who had met each other at past picnics all mixed in. Even if they had never met before, everyone was greeted and hung out like long lost family in true empire fashion. However, it became obvious that since the number of event goers has grown even friends missed each other only realizing this from pictures of the event.

The San Jose Fire Department came out and set up a tent promoting public awareness and education.

While DJ Siq Riq of The Red Zone Party Crew provided the music entertainment.

Also in attendance was radio personality Tony Sandoval of 98.1 KISS FM and recording artist David “HEAT” Canales who gave one last performance in the shadows of Candlestick Park.

It was another great event where everyone took their own initiative to pitch in and make sure everyone in attendance was comfortable and having a good time.  The one common connection that brought everyone together from different walks of life is what we all share. Our favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers!
