San Jose, CA – The much anticipated 2nd Annual 408 Niner Empire Chapter BBQ was held this past weekend at Lake Cunningham Regional Park. The event was organized by Chapter President Lisa Gutierez who along with her sister Elena showed up at 5am at the park to start setting up. After working year around for different causes in their community, it was time to kick off a new season of celebrating life with the Empire family.
After word got out after last year’s much talked about event, folks who missed it made sure to mark their calendars as soon as this event was announced.
San Francisco Bay Area recording artist Jose Santana’s management connected with the 408 Event coordinators and announced he would be shooting his next 49er Anthem “Niner Party” music video at the event as well.
As fans arrived and began setting up their canopies the grill was lit and volunteer grill masters Marlon Allen and Abel Rueda of F.F.F. (Forty-Niner Faithful Forum) went to work.
Auggie Perez, president of the 510 Chapter in Union City, CA. showed up with his Mine49 Tailgate trailer and set up shop. Look out for the Mine49 traveling to tailgate in Arizona and Seattle this year.
The 408 Chapter’s meeting place is the sports bar/restaurant called The Blue Chip. It’s owner Rudy Adanda pictured here with Lisa sponsored the bar setup inside the Mine49 Tailgate tent.
DJ Mixtek provided the sounds and kept everyone dancing all day long.
Bay Blood Clothing setup their booth representing it’s clothing line. Their “Niner For Life” shirt was a hit quickly seemed to become the uniform of the day. Get yours at www.baybloodclothing.com
In addition to Mine49, other longtime tailgaters from Candlestick also showed up including Antonio Arevalo of The Red Zone Tailgate, Jorge of La Klica, and Wil Martinez.
The event goers traveled in from far and wide. The farthest had to be Andre Burgos who flew in from New York City. Seen here hanging out with Jose Santana.
Saul Ramirez and family drive up from Bakersfield, CA.
Groups and chapters traveling into town included 209 Modesto, Tony Ruiz and his 707/Napa Valley Chapter, Luis Pavon with his 831 Salinas Chapter and Luis Lozano with The Niner Empire Fresno Chapter.
As the music video crew got set up for the shoot, director L.A. Hernandez made sure everyone got to participate in the scenes with Jose Santana doing his thing.
